The Cardinals celebrated the annual luncheon on Wednesday in front of approximately 700 fans.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville women's basketball team has received plenty of preseason praise – from local to national media and rankings publications alike.
The Cardinals on Wednesday reveled in front of a sold-out luncheon crowd of approximately 700 fans, receiving a standing ovation when being introduced, at the Marriott Downtown Louisville.
During a three-course meal and a highlight video that excited the crowd, the well-known voice of the Cardinals Sean Moth introduced the 2016-17 Cardinals and then held a question-and-answer session with sophomore Asia Durr, juniors Myisha Hines-Allen and Mariya Moore, and redshirt senior Briahanna Jackson. Head coach Jeff Walz then stepped to the podium to offer fans insight for this year's team, praise University Vice-President/Director of Athletics Tom Jurich, and then discuss the challenging schedule.
Louisville, under 10th-year coach Walz, will hold its lone exhibition on Sunday against Lindsey Wilson. Admission is free and tip at the KFC Yum! Center is set for 2 p.m.
The program officially opens the season at UT Martin on Nov. 11 before playing its home opener against Belmont on Nov. 13.
Fans interested in watching the Cardinals can purchase a six-game mini-plan, which features Sunday games against Western Kentucky, Evansville, Pittsburgh, Miami, Boston College, and North Carolina for only $48. Season tickets for the 18-game schedule are available still for as low as $108.
