Cardinals have six players on 2015 roster with Hispanic heritage; Kickoff at 7 p.m., ET
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's soccer program will host Hispanic Heritage Night at Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium on Friday at 7 p.m., ET as the Cardinals face ACC foe NC State.
In conjunction with Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, the Cardinals will recognize and celebrate the Latino culture in America and the inspiring individuals of the past who worked for the advancement of the Hispanic community. The Latino community is a growing and dignified group in the United States and has made progress in all areas including business, politics, education, athletics, music, and entertainment, and has successfully fused itself within the culture of America.
Louisville's 2015 roster features six players with Hispanic heritage – senior Jerry Ramirez, junior Romilio Hernandez and freshmen Oliver Calvo, Eric Izaguirre, Ricardo Oliveros and Max Stiegwardt. Friday's festivities will be a celebration of tradition, heritage, and soccer as the Cardinals continue their 2015 slate.
During Friday's match, the Louisville men's soccer program will honor and recognize the University of Louisville Hispanic Latino Faculty and Staff Association, which advises the President and the University of Louisville community on the nature of issues and needs confronting the Hispanic/Latino Faculty, Staff, and Students in the University. The HLFSA also provides assistance in evaluating University programs as they pertain to the Hispanic/Latino community, provides input to University and City of Louisville officials and assists the Hispanic/Latino community to make the University system more accessible. More information on the HLFSA is available online here.
The 24th-ranked Cardinals return to action on Tuesday at 7 p.m., ET at Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium with a non-conference match against Memphis.
