SEATTLE - - The University of Louisville men's tennis team fell 4-0 to Tulsa in the second match of the Great Northwest Shootout.
"Today was one of the first times in the year that our youth really showed," said U of L head coach Rex Ecarma. "Tulsa jumped all over us in the 1,3 and 5 singles and we did not counter properly. We did not have the experience to know how to handle that and it showed. We had some momentum before this tournament after winning five in a row, so we need to get that back before our next road swing."
The Golden Hurricane opened the match by winning the doubles point on courts two and three.
In singles action, Tulsa's Japie De Klerk topped freshman Sebastian Stiefelmeyer 6-3, 6-1 at the top seed. Freshman Albert Wagner fell 6-2, 6-0 to Ashley Watling at No. 3 and fellow freshman Chris Simich lost 6-1, 6-4 to Tristan Jackson at the five-spot.
The Cardinals (9-6) will return to action on March 10 when they travel to Lubbock, Texas to face Texas Tech.
