
Volleyball Falls 3-1 to Lipscomb

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Lola Arslanbekova's 16 kills and eight digs were not enough as the University of Louisville fell 3-1 to Lipscomb University Tuesday night in Nashville, Tenn.
U of L (15-5) fell 25-22, 18-25, 25-23, 25-21. The Cards outblocked Lipscomb 14-7 but were outdug 58-46. Lipscomb (14-6) had 64 kills to U of L's 45. Emily Juhl added eight kills and Tanya Lukyanenko had five blocks. Lipscomb was led by Lauren Ford's 15 kills.
The Cardinals let Lipscomb out to a 13-5 lead in the first set and had to burn their timeouts early to try to turn the tide. U of L used a 7-1 late to get within two at 20-18 but were outscored 6-3 down the stretch. Lola Arslanbekova had four kills to pace the Cards. U of L hit .194 to LU's .205 but were outdug 15-11.
The Cards pulled out to a 7-2 lead early in the second set and never trailed. The Bison did pull within one at 18-17 but could get not closer as U of L won 25-18. The Cardinals hit .345 in the set and had three blocks.
The Cardinals never led in the third set but, down 24-20, they managed to score three straight to get to 24-23. However, the Bison tipped for set point and the Cardinals fell 25-23. U of L hit .250 but the scrappy, shorter Lipscomb team hit .375 and managed two blocks.
The Bison use a 5-0 run early to pull to a 10-5 lead and the Cardinals had to play catch-up the rest of the set. Louisville came within two at 23-21 but could not force a fifth set, falling 25-21.
