
Volleyball Sweeps Georgetown 3-0

Jana Matiasovska had 14 kills to lead the University of Louisville to a 30-24, 30-23, 30-18 win over Georgetown in BIG EAST volleyball action Sunday evening in Washington, DC.
U of L improves to 7-4 and stays unbeaten in the BIG EAST at 2-0. Georgetown falls to 4-12 and 0-2.
Lecia Brown, currently No. 4 in the nation in blocking, kept up her torrid pace with 10 blocks, adding nine kills. U of L hit .355 and outblocked Georgetown 15-4.
U of L hit a healthy .447 led by Jana Matiasovska's six kills. Georgetown never got closer than four points until late in the game when an ace and a kill by Kiersten McKoy took the Hoyas to 25-22. The Cardinals went on a 4-2 run to seal game one 30-24.
The Hoyas stayed ahead early in the second game until U of L tied at 14 and then took a short-lived lead at 16-15. The Cards battled back to a tie at 20 and took the lead for good on the next point, outscoring the Hoyas 10-3 to win the second game 30-23. Blocking was keeping U of L in the game with seven for the Cardinals, six by Lecia Brown to two by the Hoyas. Matiasovska added another six kills.
In the third game, U of L used a 10-3 run to pull ahead at 16-7 and Georgetown burned both its timeouts before falling 30-18.
Tatyana Kolesnikova had 11 kills and an ace in support of the win.
