
Volleyball Rousts Pirates 3-0

Sophomore outside hitter Tatyana Kolesnikova had 21 kills, an ace and a block to lead the University of Louisville to a 30-17, 30-23, 30-17 sweep of visiting Seton Hall in BIG EAST volleyball action Sunday afternoon.
U of L, 14-6 and 7-1 in the BIG EAST, hit .440 with six aces and 12 team blocks. SHU, (13-11, 2-6) hit .120 with one ace and three blocks. Lecia Brown had eight kills and five blocks with Justine Landi adding eight kills, two aces and three blocks. Seton Hall was led by Allie Matters' 15 kills and 13 digs.
"Having just a single match in the middle of the season is a great way to regroup and look rested," said Leonid Yelin, U of L head coach. "Our hitters had a good outing today."
U of L jumped out to a 15-7 lead in the first game and SHU could get no closer. U of L hit .444 and had three aces and five blocks to SHU's .071. Kolesnikova led with six kills on seven swings and no errors. SHU took the lead 13-12 in the second game but a Landi kill tied it at 13 and the Cardinals pulled awy from there, winning 30-23. Kolesnikova had 10 kills in that set. SHU came out swinging after the break and took an 8-7 lead. U of L tied at 14 and used a 7-1 run to go up 21-15 and force a Pirate timeout. U of L continued to roll and SHU could only score twice more before falling 30-17.
U of L is idle until next Saturday when DePaul visits Cardinal Arena at 2 p.m. Notre Dame follows on Sunday at 1 p.m. in a match that is to be televised by ESPNU.
