Stephanie Marsh hit .647 with 11 kills, two aces and 10 digs to lead the No. 6-ranked University to Louisville to a 30-19, 30-22, 30-18 win over DePaul in BIG EAST volleyball action Sunday evening in Chicago.
U of L moves to 21-1 and 8-1 in the Big East. DePaul falls to 4-19, 1-9 in the league.
"After a match like the Notre Dame the day before, you can't let your guard down," said U of L head coach Leonid Yelin. "We took care of business and had our offense clicking."
U of L had a hot hitting hand in the first game with the Cardinals connecting on .519 of their attacks. Stephanie Marsh hit a perfect 1.000 with five kills on five attacks as U of L rolled 30-19. Freshman libero Nicole Bateman had two aces as part of a 17-4 run that tipped the game to Louisville.
In the second game, U of L jumped out to a 17-9 lead and DePaul could not gain a foothold with .051 hitting. Marsh continued to be effective and had four kills on five attacks and no errors. Freshman middle Rui Liu had five kills and two blocks as U of L cruised to the 30-22 win.
After building a 10-3 lead early in the last game, U of L used a 6-2 rum to pad their lead to 10 at 22-10.
