
No. 18-ranked Volleyball Beats Nicholls State 3-1

Bing Sun was one of four Cardinals recording double digit kills when she had 16 to lead the No. 18 ranked Louisville volleyball team to a 3-1 win over Nicholls State at the Arizona Tournament.
The Cardinals dropped the first game 21-30 before recovering to take the next three 30-16, 30-16, 30-20 in the first match of the Four Points University Plaza Wildcat Classic at theMcKale Center on the campus of the University of Arizona late Thursday night.
Louisville combined for a .362 hitting percentage, compared to the .061 of Nicholls State. The Cardinals also out-blocked the Colonels 10-2.
The Cardinals had four players in double-digit kills, with Lena Ustymenko adding 14, while Anastasia Yartseva and Svetlana Dukule had 11 apiece. Yartseva and Elena Pilnikova each had 12 digs for Louisville.
Nicholls State was led by Brenda Ross and Ashley Muaina, who both notched double-doubles. Ross finished with 15 kills and 10 digs, while Muaina had 13 kills and 10 digs. Joana Garboggini dished out 30 assists on the match.
In game one, Nicholls State jumped out to a 7-1 lead and never looked back, winning 30-21. The Cardinals answered with a 30-16 victory in game two, out-hitting the Colonels .519 to -.065. Louisville easily won games three and four for the convincing victory.
The Colonels face No. 19 Arizona at 10 a.m. tomorrow, Sept. 10, followed bya noon match between the Cardinals and No. 9 Pepperdine.
