BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Junior Jacey Hughes won the pole vault after clearing an NCAA regional qualifying mark to lead the University of Louisville women's track and field team at the Billy Hayes Invitational in Bloomington, Ind.

Hughes cleared 12-3.50 to break her own school record and qualify for the NCAA Mid-East Regionals for the second straight season. The win was her third of the spring season as she became the second Cardinal to qualify for regionals this year.

Junior Kelley Bowman placed third in the high jump with a height of 5-8, also an NCAA regional qualifying mark. Bowman had already qualified earlier in the season.

Jill Andres broke her own freshman record in the discus with a seventh-place throw of 139-0, while sophomore Emily Kost set a personal record in the shot put with a sixth-place mark of 45-1.50.

Junior Shareka Nance finished second in the triple jump with a personal-best mark of 37-5.75. Junior Michele Burke equaled a personal record with a fourth-place jump of 36-4.

In the 200-meter dash, junior Anita Winters-Dixon placed 10th with a time of 25.28 seconds, the 10th fastest time in school history.

Freshman Holly Geibel finished fourth in the javelin with a throw of 122-2, while senior Mindy Helman was seventh at 105.

Louisville will host the Conference USA Outdoor Championship at Cardinal Park this week. The three-day event begins Thursday.
