
Bell Paces Women with Seventh-Place Finish at Indiana Open

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Senior Amanda Bell returned to her old home course and placed seventh to lead the University of Louisville women's cross country team at the Indiana Open Friday in Bloomington.
The Cardinals placed third overall with 71 points. Indiana won the five-team event with 22 points, while South Florida was a distant second with 60 points.
Bell, who was the Hoosiers' top runner before coming to Louisville last year, finished the 5K course in 19 minutes, 13.38 seconds. The Clarksville, Ind., native earned a bachelor's degree from IU in 2002 and is currently working towards a graduate degree at U of L.
Freshman Holly Geers made a solid debut for the Cards with a 15th-place time of 20:16.74. Seniors Emily Daunhauer (18th), Marea Ingwersen (20th) and Laine Hamman (21st) rounded out the Louisville scorers.
South Florida's Christa Benton won the individual title with a time of 18:07.57.
The Cardinals return to action September 13 when they travel to Nashville, Tenn., for the Commodore Invitational.
