
Women Place Ninth at Conference USA Cross Country Championship

TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Louisville women's cross country team finished ninth at the Conference USA Championship Saturday morning in Tampa, Fla.
Marquette won the title with 43 points, edging TCU (55 points) to win the title and complete the sweep of both the men's and women's races. Louisville finished with 203 points. TCU's Mary Kinyanjui won the 6K race with a time of 20 minutes, 45.4 seconds, edging teammate Ami Batler (20:46.3) by less than one second.
Senior Amanda Bell led the Cardinals with a 27th-place finish with a time of 22:42.0, while senior Marea Ingwersen was 30th in 22:52.6.
Freshman Holly Geers, running her first 6K race at the collegiate level, placed 42nd (23:22.5), followed by senior Emily Daunhauer (47th), senior Laine Hamman (57th), senior Beth Wendt (62nd) and junior Corryn McCrae (66th).
