LOUISVILLE, KY - Two goals in a six-minute span by Southeast Missouri broke a 1-1 tie and lifted the Otahkians to a 3-1 win over the University of Louisville women's soccer team Friday night at Cardinal Park. A red card issued to U of L's Tara Weatherford in the 22nd minute put Louisville down a player for the remainder of the match.
Southeast Missouri's Molli Beard netted a goal at the 42:10 mark to give the Otahkians(6-2-3) a 1-0 lead.
Louisville evened things up at one when freshman Amy Seng carried the ball upfield and fed fellow freshman Lindsay Scheer for her second goal of the season at 53:02.
"We did a great job rebounding and scored a great goal to even things up but let the momentum slip away," observed assistant coach Carole Dutchka.
Ashley Deroy scored in the 58th minute to break the tie and again at 63:01 to seal to SEMO win.
"Amy Seng, Hollie Minogue, Heidi Schomburg and Lindsay Scheer stepped up and gave us enough energy to overcome things. We just needed everyone to follow," added Dutchka.
Jamie Craft had four of U of L's 11 shots, while Jen Romanello, Liz Kinny and Minogue each had two.
Louisville will head to Evansville for a match with the Aces on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. ET. The Cards(4-4-2) return home to host Murray State next Friday at 7:00 p.m. in Cardinal Park.
