LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Benny Flynn had eight kills, hit .500 and had six blocks to lead the University of Louisville to a 30-22, 30-21, 30-22 sweep of Tulane in Conference USA volleyball action Friday night in Cardinal Arena.
The No. 20-ranked Cards are now 12-4 and 5-1 in the conference. Tulane is now 20-3 and suffered its first league loss to stand at 6-1.
"It was the blocking that made a difference tonight. Benny Flynn had some monstrous blocks at the net tonight," said Leonid Yelin. "It was by far our best blocking effort of the season."
The Cardinals recorded a season high 17 blocks to Tulane's 5. Jennifer Hoffman had one solo block with seven assists with Lena Ustymenko adding six. The matchup was key for the Cardinals as Tulane had an unblemished conference record coming into the match and the Cardinals had suffered one loss. U of L hit a toasty .307 and was led by Lena Ustymenko's 13 kills and three aervice aces.
