
Pirates Foil Women's Soccer team 2-0 Friday

LOUISVILLE, KY - Krystel Paybey set up a pair of goals for East Carolina as the defeated the University of Louisville 2-0 in women's soccer on Friday night at Cardinal Park.
"We played well for 90 minutes against a very talented team and had our chances," said Cardinal Head Coach Karen Ferguson.
"It's just a matter of converting chances and the mentality of knowing we can win," added Ferguson.
The Pirates(7-5-5, 3-2-3 C-USA) opened the scoring on a goal by Rachel Hils in the 35th minute for a 1-0 lead.
Melissa Penney sealed the margin in the 49th minute.
Louisville(6-8-2, 1-6-1 C-USA) was outshot 12-4 in the match, but only four of the Pirates' shots were on goal, while two of Ashley Garcia's were on net. Freshman Liz Kinny had the other shot for the Cards.
"We played solid defensively, we just have to find that extra spark," noted Garcia.
The Cards visit Charlotte on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. before wrapping up the regular season November 1st against Cincinnati at 1:00 p.m. Admission to all home matches at Cardinal Park are free of charge.
