CHICAGO, IL - A late goal by DePaul's Julianne Sitch lifted the Blue Demons past the University of Louisville Cardinals 2-1 in women's soccer Sunday afternoon at Wish Field.
"We didn't want it bad enough," noted Cardinal Head Coach Karen Ferguson.
"Once again we didn't capitalize on our chances. We may have been looking ahead to overtime, while they were determined to finish the game in regulation," added Ferguson.
The Cardinals(6-7-2, 1-5-1 C-USA) were down at the 5:09 mark on Amy Witt's first goal of the season.
In the 61st minute, U of L freshman Jamie Craft stole the ball from DePaul(10-5-1, 5-2-1 C-USA) keeper Lindsey Deason and evened the game at one with her eighth goal of the season.
Sitch headed in a cross with just under five minutes to play in regulation for the game winner.
DePaul outshot the Cards 18-7 on the match. Craft and Ashley Garcia each had two shots for the Cardinals.
Louisville will host East Carolina on Friday at Cardinal Park. Admission is free and kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. ET.
