
Cards Get By Green Wave 77-70

Louisville, Ky. - Louisville hit 8 of 10 free throws down the stretch to defeat Tulane 77-70 Friday night in Freedom Hall. Louisville's Sara Nord and Lori Nero led the Cards, Nord had 23 points and nine assists while Nero had 17 points and 14 rebounds. Delacey Joseph led the Green Wave with 17 points and nine rebounds.
Tulane went up 18-8 at the 13:10 mark of the first half. Louisville went 0 for 6 from the three-point line until Angel Bradley connected on back-to-back threes to pull the Cards within four at the nine minute mark.
With 2:44 remaining in the half, Joseph hit a jumper to put the Green Wave up 38-28. Then the Cards went on an 8-0 run to finish out the half. Nero scored three straight baskets to cut the Wave lead to two at the break.
The lead changed hands five times in the first 11 minutes of the second half. A jumper by Nero put the Cards up 59-58 with 8:25 remaining. The Cards held the lead the rest of the half.
A jumper by D'Aundra Henry at the 2:54 mark pulled Tulane within 65-62. Bradley went 2 for 2 from the line and a Nero layup put the Cards up 69-62 with just under two minutes remaining.
Gwen Slaughter connected on a jumper with 1:36 remaining. Sabrina Minter hit 2 of 2 from the line to put Louisville up 70-64. Joseph hit a three-pointer at the 1:14 mark to cut the lead to 71-67. Nord connected on 2 of 2 from the line and a defensive rebound by Bradley had the Cards up 73-67 with just over thirty seconds remaining.
Nero hit 1 of 2 from the line and Joseph hit a another from behind the arc with 22 seconds remaining. Minter hit 1 of 2 from the line and Amanda Wolke hit a jumper at the buzzer to give the Cards the win.
Louisville will be back in action as they host Southern Miss at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday in Freedom Hall.
