Louisville Women Finish Second at Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville women's cross country team had six runners finish in the top-25 to place second at the Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic Saturday morning at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park. The event was hosted by the Greater Louisville Sports Commission.
Cedarville, the top-ranked NAIA cross country team in the nation, won the 23-team event with 31 points. Louisville came in with 80 points, followed by Hastings (129), Malone (170) and Geneva (172). Cedarville's Erin Nehus won the 5000-meter race with a time of 18:58.89.
The top six U of L finishers were all within 20 seconds of one another, led by sophomore Heather Griffith's 12th-place time of 19:30.57. Junior Emily Daunhauer finished 16th in 19:36.58, while sophomore Corryn McCrae (18th), freshman Emily Leeper (20th), freshman Crystal Duffala (24th) and junior Beth Wendt (25th) rounded out the Cards' top-25 finishers.
Louisville returns to action Saturday when it hosts the Cardinal Cross Country Classic at the U of L Shelby Campus.
