Women's Soccer Drops Conference Opener

NEW ORLEANS, LA - Senior Colleen Lake had a goal and an assist to lead the Tulane women's soccer team to a 3-0 win over the University of Louisville women's soccer team at the Westfeldt Facility on Friday in the Conference USA opener for both teams.
The Cardinals fall to 2-4-0 overall and 0-1-0 in conference play, while the Green Wave improve to 4-3-0 overall and 1-0-0 in league play.
Tulane opened the scoring in the 31st minute when Lake headed home a corner from 12 yards out.
The Wave made it 2-0 before the break when Jaque Gruber scored on a rebound after an initial save by Cardinal keeper Meredith Miller.
The Cardinals battled in the second half, outshooting the Wave, but could not convert. Mandy Schumacher decided the final margin with a goal in the 73rd minute.
Louisville travells to Houston to face the Cougars Sunday at 1:00 p.m. ET.
