
Cards Finish Out Year With Third Consecutive Win

Louisville, Ky. - All-American candidate Lori Nero registered a double-double with 22 points and a career-high 16 rebounds in the Cards 73-55 win over Troy State Saturday night in Freedom Hall. Amanda Wolke and Connie Neal each added 11 points to round out the top scorers for the Cardinals.
After Troy State tied the score at eight with 14:49 in the first half, the Cards went on a 13-0 run to move ahead 21-8 at the 9:43 mark. Sara Nord sparked the run with back-to-back three-pointers. Louisville held on to the lead to go up 33-21 at the half.
Troy State cut the lead to eight in the first minute of play, but the Cards went on a 9-0 run to go up 42-25 with 16:36 remaining. The Lady Trojans could never get closer.
The Cards shot 45.5 percent in the second half and finished the game shooting 43.3 percent. Louisville outrebounded Troy State 45-29.
The Cardinals will be back in action Jan. 2 against No. 9 Vanderbilt at 7:00 p.m. in Freedom Hall.
