FT. WORTH, Texas -- Bing Sun had 16 kills and three digs to lead the University of Louisville to a 30-15, 30-23, 30-20 win over TCU in Conference USA volleyball action Saturday night.
The Cardinals improve their record to 21-4 and 10-1 in league play. TCU falls to 11-16 and 3-8 in the C-USA.
"TCU is a new opponent for us and we had to travel on a game day which can throw you out of your rhythm," said Leonid Yelin, U of L head coach. "I was glad to see us stay focused."
In the first game, U of L moved out to a 12-5 lead and then squelched a short three-point rally by the Horned Frogs that brought them within three at 12-9 on an ace by Carissa Mills. Louisville fashioned together a 9-2 run and TCU had no answer. The Cardinals hit .372 and had three blocks. Middle hitter Benny Flynn had five kills on five attacks, with Stacey Mercer hitting .833 with five kills on six swings and no errors.
"This weekend was a new lineup for us and freshman Jennifer Hoffman had a great match with eight kills and a team high six blocks," said Yelin.
