LOUISVILLE, KY - East Carolina's Meghan McCallion scored her eighth and ninth goals of the season to lead the Lady Pirates(7-3-2, 3-1-1) to a 2-0 victory of the University of Louisville(5-7-1, 1-3-1) in women's soccer action Sunday.
"It has been a recurring theme this season, with our team battling and playing hard, but not being able to create enough scoring opportunities or capitalizing on the ones we create," said Cardinal Head Coach Karen Ferguson.
McCallion picked up her first goal in the 12th minute when she broke in on the left side and beat Cardinal keeper Lyndsay Seibert to make it 1-0 ECU. Jennifer Leonard and Unicity Dittmer picked up assists on the goal.
Kristin Hoyle set up McCallion for her second goal at 50:05 to seal the victory.
ECU Head Coach Rob Donnenwirth picked up his 100th career victory in the match that saw his Pirates outshot the Cards 12-5.
Louisville's Liz Nelson lead the team with three shots on goal. The Cards will take the road to Chicago Friday, where they will face DePaul at 4:00 p.m. and then head to Milwaukee to take on Marquette at 1:00 p.m.
