
Volleyball Sweeps George Mason

LOUISVILLE -- Benny Flynn had 15 kills and five blocks to lead the University of Louisville volleyball team to a 30-26, 30-24, 30-26 win over George Mason in non-conference action Saturday night at Cardinal Arena.
The Cardinals boost their record to 13-3 while George Mason drops to 13-5. Louisville has now won nine of their last ten matches and four in a row and is ranked first in the Midwest Region.
"We had some spells where we weren't playing very smoothly, but someone would step up to fill in during the lapse and we were able to move on, " said Leonid Yelin, U of L head coach.
Louisville outhit the Patriots .331 to .094 but were outblocked 8-7. The Cardinals had three players in double digit kills with Bing Sun and Stacey Mercer adding 16 and 11 respectively. Sun added three aces and three blocks. Anastasia Zaitseva had nine kills and 10 digs. Sun has led U of L in kills in 13 of 16 matches and has had double digit kills in 15 matches. Libero Sarah Drury had a match-high 16 digs.
Aline Pereira led GMU with 22 kills and two blocks.
