
Women's Soccer Bettered by Bobcats

LOUISVILLE, KY - The Ohio Bobcats defeated the University of Louisville women's soccer team 3-1 Friday night at Cardinal Park. Louisville falls to 5-6-1 on the season, snapping a two-game winning streak, while the Bobcats improve to 8-3-1.
"We had a lot of great individual performances tonight, but we need to turn our individual performances into a great team performance," noted Cardinal Head Coach Karen Ferguson.
Ohio's Abby Leopold put the Bobcats in front at the 6:41 mark when she gathered a failed clear attempt and tucked it into the far corner to make it 1-0.
The teams carried the score into halftime, and until the 60th minute, when Kelly Prandi headed in a cross from Carrie Kistner for a 2-0 advantage.
Rachel Sanders tallied her third goal of he season at the 73:55 mark, upping the advantage to 3-0 for the Bobcats.
Louisville's Melissa Wark averted the shutout for the Cards, when Sarah Core sent in a shot from the right side that deflected off of goalkeeper Michell Meglaughlin's hands, and Wark sent it home for her fourth goal of the year.
Louisville was outshot 24-6 in the match. Regular Cardinal keeper Meredith Miller missed her second consecutive match due to injury and freshman Lyndsay Seibert filled in with her second consecutive start, making nine saves and keeping the Cards close.
"Lyndsay Seibert was fantastic tonight," added Ferguson.
The Cards will host East Carolina on Sunday at Cardinal Park at 12:00 p.m. Admission is free to all Cardinal soccer games, and U of L will welcome back it's women's soccer alumnae Sunday.
