
Women's Basketball Loses a Close One To Alabama

Malibu, Calif. - The Cardinals fell 90-89 to Alabama in the final 12 seconds of the Pepperdine Thanksgiving Classic Friday night in Firestone Fieldhouse. The Cards used a 15-0 run in the first five minutes of the second half to erase a 10-point halftime deficit.
Louisville led by as many as eight with seven minutes remaining. Marju Sober hit two free throws with 30 seconds remaining to go up 89-88. The Tide's Leigh Papisan scored the go-ahead basket with 12 seconds remaining. Freshman Sara Nord missed a three-point attempt at the buzzer.
Senior guard Kara Kessans led all scorers with a career-high 26 points. Sober added 18 points while Nord dished out 10 assists and recorded seven steals. Guard Katie Sipe led the Tide with 16 points.
The Cardinals will face William and Mary tomorrow night at 6:00 p.m. eastern standard time in consolation game of the Pepperdine Thanksgiving Classic.
