BIRMINGHAM, AL - The UAB Blazers shutout the Louisville Cardinals women's soccer team 3-0 Sunday afternoon.
"The team is continuing to understand the value of playing as a team for 90 minutes," said Head Coach Karen Ferguson.
UAB senior Bridget Winston scored what turned out to be the game winning goal of the contest at the 23:04 mark of the first half as she headed a Briana McCarty corner past Louisville's keeper Meredith Miller.
In the 47th minute, the duo duplicated the first goal to give the Blazers a 2-0 lead.
Freshman Tara Kidwell added a late UAB goal at the 62:46 mark in the game to give the Blazers their final goal.
With the win, UAB improves to an overall record of 4-6 on the season, while Louisville dropped to 2-8.
Louisville hosts UT Martin on Friday at Cardinal Park at 7:00p.m. Admission is free.
