Volleyball Sweeps Tulane

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Sonja Percan had 13 kills to lead Louisville to a three-game sweep of Tulane in Conference USA volleyball action in Cardinal Arena.
Louisville, 16-4, raised its conference record to 10-3 with the 30-24, 30-23, 30-22 win. Tulane fell to 14-10 and evened its conference mark to 6-6.
"Every conference game is important, we need to regain our top ranking in the region," said Leonid Yelin, U of L head coach.
Louisville hit .400 in the first game with Percan notching five kills on eight attacks. Tulane hit only .147 but did uncork three service aces before falling 30-24.
Tulane's Britney Hurst had eight kills in the second game but it wasn't enough to bring Tulane back, despite Louisville's .196 hitting. Stacey Mercer had four kills for Louisville in the 30-23 win.
In the final set marked by long rallies, Louisville hit .350.
"This was a fun game to play with the long rallies, " said Percan. "This team was challenging and skilled."
Louisville had two players beside Percan in double digit kills with Mercer adding 10 and Benny Flynn being credited with 11. Jing Ding had a double-double with 45 assists and 13 digs.
Louisville travels to Gainesville to play No. 9 Florida Monday in an added match.
