
Women's Basketball Defeats Tulane

New Orleans, La. - University of Louisville women's basketball team defeated Tulane 64-60 tonight in Fogelman Arena. The Cards improve to 12-7 on the season and 7-1 in conference play.
Marju Sober led the Cards with 26 points. Freshman point guard Sara Nord added 12 points and nine assists. Carol Brown led Louisville on the boards with a career-high 10 rebounds.
Teana McKiver led Tulane with 17 points and Janell Burse added 15.
The Cards shot 38.3 percent for the game while Tulane shot 35.7 percent. The Green Wave outrebounded the Cards 45-40.
The Cards built a 12 point lead with 9:24 left in the game. Tulane then went on a 12-3 run to tie the game at 55 wit 2:25 remaining.
With 1:57 remaining, Tulane's Burse hit one of two free throws to put the Green Wave up by one. Louisville's Janelle Antoine then made a layup with 1:32 remaining to put the Cards up 57-56.
Tulane then hit two free throws with 1:15 remaining to take a one point lead. Nord then put the Cards ahead hitting two of two from the foul line to go up 59-58.
The Green Wave's Brit Themann missed two free throws with 14 seconds remaining but Burse got the rebound and scored on a layup to put Tulane up 60-59 with 12 seconds remaining.
The Cards came down the floor and Sober hit a three from the right side to take a 62-60 lead with four seconds remaining. Then Antoine stole the inbounds pass and was fouled. Antoine hit both free throws to seal the 64-60 win.
Louisville will travel to Hattiesburg, Miss. to take on Southern Miss on Sunday night at 3:30 p.m.
