The U of L women's soccer team was shutout 2-0 by Ohio in the first ever women's game at newly completed Cardinal Park.
The Bobcats(2-2-0) picked up a goal off the foot of Carolyn Valde at the 10:47 mark to take a 1-0 lead at half, and Christel Schiering closed the scoring at 74:57. The Cards(1-4-0) were solid defensively, but couldn't generate any offense.
"I was really proud of how we played defensively, but we just couldn't get any rhythm on offense," said head coach Karen Ferguson.
Amber Jolley and Brianne Tieff both had chances midway through the second half, but Jolley was stopped by Bobcat keeper Vanessa Dennis, and Tieff was unable to corral the rebound. Louisville was outshot 12-6, including a 5-1 edge in the second half. Goalkeeper Lynn Clashman made seven saves in the contest, but dropped to 1-4-0 on the season.
The Cardinals will next host the Butler Bulldogs(3-0-1) Sunday at 1:00 at Cardinal Park. Admission is free.
