
Women's Basketball Defeats Illinois State 87-59

Louisville, Ky. - The Louisville Cardinals enjoyed a return home after five road games with an 87-59 victory over Illinois State in Freedom Hall today.
Shamika Ingram scored a career-high 17 points to lead the Cardinals and Kara Kessans and Shanta Bowens added 15 points apiece.
Louisville led most of the first half until Illinois State's Jaci McCormack hit a baseline jumper with 13:20 left to go up 14-13. But Louisville went on a 17-0 run and held the Redbirds scoreless for a six minute stretch. Louisville finished the half with a 42-32 halftime lead.
In the second half the Cardinals capitalized off a 29-3 run with 10:35 remaining to put the Cards up 75-43.
The Cardinals put their shooting woes to rest today hitting 53 percent from the field and improved their free throw percentage, hitting 61.9 percent from the line.
Freshman sensation Sara Nord dished out a career-high 11 assists and no turnovers and added 13 points. Illinois State was led by Taren O'Brien with 10 points.
