CANCUN, Mexico - The Cardinals (0-4) fought back repeatedly in the final minute, but came up short in the third-place game of the Torneo Cancun de Basquetbol in Cancun, Mexico.
Marju Sober's steal and three-pointer with 22 seconds left, pulled U of L within 64-62. After an exchange of baskets, Minnesota missed a pair of free throws with seven seconds left, but Kim Prince put in the offensive rebound to clinch the victory.
Prince finished with 21 points for Minnesota (3-1) Kara Kessans led Louisville with 16 points. Freshman Marcia Alvarado added 11 points - 3 of 4 from three-point range - and Sara Nord had nine rebounds, seven assists and seven points.
